Surgery To Separate Bhutanese Conjoined Twins Postponed
One of the twins' health has declined, revealed late night tests just before surgery on Friday.

Bhutanese conjoined twins Nima and Dawa Pelden will now have to wait around two weeks before undergoing a surgery to be separated in Australia.
The procedure, which was scheduled for Friday, was postponed due to Dawa’s declining health, revealed late night tests conducted by the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne, reported News.com.au.
Delaying the surgery will allow Dawa some time to build strength for the demanding operation. The hospital will also give additional nutritional support to the 14-month-old twin.
The hospital said in a statement: "The multidisciplinary team overseeing their care have closely monitored the girls' progress since their arrival and, while they have responded very well to treatment, the team has determined an additional period of nutrition support would put them in optimal health prior to their life-changing surgery," the hospital said in a statement.
"Surgery is likely within the coming weeks and the girls will stay at the Children First Foundation retreat while receiving continued clinical oversight by the RCH."
The twins flew to Melbourne, Australia on Oct 2 to undergo a life-changing operation which includes separating the two who are joined at the torso.
The twins are believed to be Bhutan's first recorded conjoined twins.
