Drukair officially launched its new twice-weekly flights to Dubai on the 28th October 2024, marking a significant step in expanding the airline’s international network.

Drukair Expands International Network with New Dubai-Paro Route

The inaugural flight was attended by His Royal Highness Gyaltshab Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, adding to the importance of this milestone event.

Drukair’s inaugural flight between Paro and Dubai was a jubilant celebration in both directions. Upon arrival, passengers were greeted with a traditional khadar, symbolizing a fortunate beginning to this exciting journey. Passengers onboard participated in a delightful cake-cutting ceremony and received special tokens to commemorate this momentous occasion.

This newly established route is set to enhance global connectivity, making travel more accessible for passengers from the Middle East and beyond. It is expected to play a crucial role in promoting tourism, trade, and strengthening diplomatic relations between Bhutan and the United Arab Emirates.

DRUKAIR FLIGHT SCHEDULE FROM PARO TO DUBAI

The flight schedule includes services from Paro to Dubai twice a week. Flights from Dubai depart on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 4:00 AM, arriving in Paro at 11:40 AM after a stopover in Delhi. The flight time from Dubai to Paro, including the stopover in Delhi, is approximately 7 hours and 40 minutes.

Conversely, flights from Paro depart on Mondays and Fridays at 8:00 AM, arriving in Delhi by 10:00 AM, before continuing to Dubai and landing at 1:40 PM Bhutan Standard Time. The flight time from Paro to Dubai, including the stopover in Delhi, is approximately 5 hours and 40 minutes.

Drukair’s CEO, Tandi Wangchuk, highlighted the airline’s commitment to expanding its global reach, stating, “Dubai represents a key international hub—a gateway that will connect Bhutan to the Middle East and beyond, offering a seamless transit point for Bhutanese travellers, as well as providing easier access for global tourists and business visitors.” This new route reinforces Drukair’s efforts to connect Bhutan to larger international markets.

In addition to boosting travel, the Dubai route is anticipated to support the promotion of Gelephu Mindfulness City to international visitors, enhancing Bhutan’s reputation as a prime travel destination.

The Prime Minister also expressed his enthusiasm through his social media pages, stating, “this new connection promises to promote tourism and strengthen people-to-people bonds beyond borders.”
