Most Popular Bars in Paro

Paro may be known for its monasteries and mountains, but its nightlife is a hidden gem waiting to be explored. From lively pubs and cosy breweries to chic hotel bars, there’s something for every mood and budget.

Most Popular Bars in Paro

At first glance, the tranquil Paro Valley may not strike you as a hub for nightlife or evening entertainment. While it’s certainly not as bustling as Thimphu, those in the know can tell you that Paro offers much more than just Tiger’s Nest and a flight out of Bhutan. In fact, Paro town has a surprisingly lively selection of bars and pubs where you can mingle with locals and fellow travellers, sip on local brews, or even belt out a tune at karaoke. Here are our top picks to suit every budget and vibe:

1. Park 76 Café and Pub, Paro Town

Located just off the main street, Park 76 Café and Pub is beloved for its great energy and vibrant atmosphere. Whether you're a traveler looking for a fun night out, a local unwinding after a long day, or a guide sharing stories with fellow adventurers- this popular venue offers something for everyone. A hub for live music, Park 76 regularly hosts talented bands and upcoming singers. They also offer a good selection of craft beers, sizzlers or burgers.

2. Club Insomnia, Below Park 76

If you are having a ball at Park 76 and aren't ready to call it a night, you’re in luck- Club Insomnia is conveniently tucked away in the basement of the same building. This nightclub is the best place to keep the good times going with revelers of all ages as the  DJ plays popular English, Dzongkha and Hindi remixes.

3. Namgay Artisanal Brewery, Dumsibu

Anyone who has sampled a local beer in the country is familiar with the signature ‘Bhutanese’ brand crafted by this microbrewery. Namgay Artisanal Brewery offers eight types of beer on tap, each with distinctive taste and character. You can’t go wrong with the rich maltiness of ‘Red Rice Lager’, smooth depth of ‘Dark Ale’ or refreshing ‘Wheat Beer’ and hoppy ‘Indian Pale Ale’. Other options are the creamy ‘Milk Stout’, crisp ‘Pilsner’, tangy ‘Pineapple Gose’ and fruity ‘Apple Cider’. Can’t decide? Opt for the beer tasting experience where you can sample a variety of brews while enjoying stunning views of lush rice fields and majestic mountains.

4. Uma Bar, Como Uma Paro

If you want to start a night out in Paro town in style, head to the Uma Bar in the five star Como Uma Paro hotel. Sample one of their sumptuous cocktails, indulge in a sweet treat or try their renowned Bhutanese food menu at the Bukhari restaurant located on the property. While not the most budget-friendly option, the impeccable service, luxurious ambiance, and exquisite flavors make it well worth the splurge.

5. Roadside Bar and Kitchen, Chuzom- Paro Highway

Opening Hours: Open 24 hours

Contact: 17830775

Travelers looking for a hidden gem will literally have to keep their eyes peeled for this unexpected yet delightful find. Nestled discreetly near the highway from Paro to Thimphu, the Roadside Bar and Kitchen may not look like much from the outside, but step through its doors, and you’ll be in for a surprise. Inside, the quirky yet inviting space is filled with greenery, statues and a laid-back vibe. Enjoy their snacks like ‘koka chowmein’ (a delicious instant noodle stir-fry) along with a selection of local and imported alcohol.

6. Old Factory Restaurant and Bar, Jangsa

Opening Hours: 11 am - 1 am

Contact: 17687314

Fans of the Old Factory Restaurant and Bar in Thimphu will be delighted to hear that they have opened a second location in Paro. Just like the original, Old Factory Paro features their signature cocktails like the ‘Classic Orange’ and ‘Tequila Sunrise.’ They also offer a wide selection of food and snacks- we recommend the shrimp chips, nachos and wings. Check their social media before-hand if you want to catch a live music performance from some of the hottest artists on the Bhutanese pop scene.

7. Oppa’s Pub, Below Ugyen Tshongkhang Building

Opening Hours: 6 pm - 12 am

Contact: 17642351

With swanky interiors and a zany name, Oppa’s Pub is bound to attract an equally lively and unconventional clientele. Known for their live music, themed nights and friendly staff- this is the perfect place to drop in and mingle, unwind and soak in the energy of Paro’s nightlife. They offer a variety of classic cocktails like the refreshing ‘Gin Fizz’, along with colorful mocktails like ‘Pink Dream’. If you’re feeling peckish, snack on the ‘Crispy Pork Belly’ and ‘Crispy Chilly Potato.’

These are just a few of our top recommendations for a night out in Paro town. Be sure to include at least some of these spots in your evening itinerary as the perfect way to unwind after a day of sightseeing or hiking. As always, drink responsibly and be sure not to miss your flight the next morning!
