The Great Fourth King and Fifth King of Bhutan on Royal Tours amid the COVID-19 pandemic brought tears to many Bhutanese.

Many Bhutanese people eyes brimmed with tears. The heart was a knot of inexplicable emotions when they saw His Majesty the fourth King on-screen on Bhutan Broadcasting Service on Royal Tour.

The Great Fourth King and Fifth King of Bhutan on Royal Tours amid the COVID-19 pandemic brought tears to many Bhutanese.

The pictures of an elderly lady prostrating to the TV screen after seeing His Majesty granted audience to the students in the southern border area in Bhutan went viral and was shared on the social media platform. Words do not bear the capacity to express our gratitude to His Majesty’s selfless leadership and for the personal blessings which all Bhutanese will cherish for life.

The monarchs of Bhutan have been the fountainhead of the country’s progress and modernization. Since the emergence of the hereditary Monarchy in 1907, the kings have followed a path of smooth and gradual modernization. The institution of the Monarchy has propelled Bhutan to where it is today.

At such a time as this, when COVID-19 fear abounds and leaders around the world are working from some distant confines of quarantine, His Majesty the King is tirelessly traveling across the nation, ensuring the people are safe and gracing Bhutanese with a priceless assurance of safety with peerless wisdom and compassion since the first case of COVID-19 positive case was detected in Bhutan.

His Majesty The King and His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo are both on Royal Tours to different parts of southern Bhutan, to encourage the people and to motivate them to remain resilient, as Bhutan continues to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the Royal Tour, His Majesty met with frontline workers, COVID-19 task force members, and students along the way. His Majesty is accompanied by His Royal Highness the Gyaltshab, the Prime Minister, and Chairperson of the National Council.

His Majesty the Fourth Gyalpo visited Tsirang and Gelephu, as part of a special Royal Tour. His Majesty is accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck. His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo expressed appreciation to the frontline workers for their hard work so far.

His Majesty granted Audiences to DeSuups, armed forces personnel, COVID-19 Taskforce, and students of Gelephu High School earlier this week. While in Gelephu, His Majesty also visited the Gelephu town, hospital, the identified Mini Dry Port, and the Gyalsung Training Centre site in Tareythang. In Tsirang, His Majesty visited the hospital and town. His Majesty The King and His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo are both deeply concerned about the impact of COVID-19 on the people, especially those in high-risk areas.

Meanwhile, to support people whose livelihoods continue to be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Druk Gyalpo’s Relief Kidu will be continued for another three months from October to December. Affected individuals continue to receive a Kidu amount of Nu 10,000 (full amount) and Nu 7000 (partial amount).

The Kidu is applicable only for those who have been laid off or on unpaid leave or reduced salary from businesses in tourism and tourism-dependent sectors, to the employees of businesses that are mandated to remain closed, individuals engaged in self-operated businesses in tourism and tourism-dependent sectors that have no earnings, and Bhutanese working abroad who have returned home because of loss of employment.

Since its launch in April, the Druk Gyalpo’s Relief Kidu granted Nu 1.2bn to more than 33,000 beneficiaries and over 14,000 children.

LONG LIVE THE KINGS OF BHUTAN!
